Learn All About Paintball Sights and Scopes

Sights and scopes on paintball markers are always highly debated on. Some say it is useful, some say they are just for looks. We say both are good enough reasons to put one on your tactical style marker! Scopes and sights can be really useful while playing paintball. Shooting round balls, normal paintballs, can sometimes be unpredictable. It may take a couple shots to get that ball on target but that scope or sight may help get those first few paintballs on target.

Where it can really start to change is when you have a tactical style marker that can shoot the shaped paintball projectiles, like First Strike Round! A scope can really improve your accuracy with a shaped paintball projectile. Making it a lot easier and way more fun to shoot at a distance with shaped paintballs.

Magnified Scopes

Using a magnified scope can be tricky due to it still being a paintball, there are scopes made for paintball markers shooting the shaped projectiles which helps get that round on target. Some players use the NC Star Mark III Tactical Gen 2 - 3-9X42 - Mil Dot magnified scope on their tactical style paintball marker. Another popular scope is the CARMATECH Supremacy Optical Premium Scope, this scope is loved by many of the mag-fed tactical paintball players because it is designed to be used with the shaped projectiles! Many players will use the First Strike Adjustable Rail Riser with a scope to aid in helping with the shaped projectiles getting on target, it helps with the arch the rounds are shot at.

Sights and Red Dots

Most players like to go the non-magnified route or a red dot for their mag-fed tactical style paintball marker. One of the biggest reasons why is due to the size of most fields and where you play every weekend. Most fields will not offer the long range opportunity to use a magnified scope. Red Dots are much easier to use and get set up for the first time user of a sight on a paintball marker. Less worrying about the drop over time of your round being shot or the wind that can play a big factor on such a large round moving so slow. Red dots make life that much easier for those shots within 50 yards, which most shots are taken with a shaped projectile. Most of the time there is no need for such a powerful scope on a paintball field.

At the end of the day the choice is up to you, the player, if you want to feel and look the part of being a paintball sniper or if you just want to have fun and shoot your buddies and friends at a distance with some flare. Either way as long as you are happy with your marker set up and it makes you play better when on the field that is all that matters. Looking good is half the battle in paintball, the rest comes when you are enjoying yourself!
