Paintball pants have changed over the years so there is quite a bit to know before you make your first paintball pants purchase. A few things to keep in mind when shopping are how much padding does the pair of pants offer, do they have belt loops so you can add your own belt and are the pants flexible and light weight. The weight has a lot to do with it as sometimes players will get stuck playing paintball in the rain. As you know when clothing gets wet it holds water and can become heavier. With a light pair of pants not only do they breathe better during the summer but they will also carry less water and dry out much faster while you are playing.

Knee Padding

Depending on the pants and brand you have researched will determine if your paintball pants have a ton of knee padding or not. The newer more modern pairs of paintball pants offer a light weight material with some knee padding but not a lot. If you run around and drive or crawl through the woods every then we highly recommend to try out a pair of paintball pants that has padding or pick up a pair of paintball knee pads to wear under your pants. This is the best option as the pants stay light and flexible if they don't have some huge amount of padding all over them,

Flexibility

With the newly designed paintball pants now available the flexibility that comes with some pants is amazing. On older pants you would have huge padding and they were much heavier and more bulky. The most popular paintball pants now available are light weight, flexible and don't have a ton of padding. The best combination we recommend would be a light weight pair of pants and add some paintball knee pads underneath.

Barrel Swab Pocket

Pretty much every paintball player has had a need to clean their barrel between games or even sometimes during games. The new design of pants usually includes a barrel swab pocket on both legs. This feature is great as it gives you the ability to quickly and easily grab a barrel cleaner and clean your barrel so you can get back to shooting accurate again.
As you are shopping around be sure the pair of pants you are researching include this option!

Make them Last - Pro Tip

One tip we have from over 10 years of playing is to be sure you tighten the ankle strap on your paintball pants once you decide on a pair. As you run around if your cleats get caught in your pants or the pants drag across the ground they will wear out twice as fast as they should. If you can your pants on a stump or anything while playing you can rip them apart. Be sure to keep the ankle straps tight to the ankles and you wont run into any of these issues!
