Thermal Lens VS Single Lens
When shopping for a paintball mask there are a few important things to consider. Besides the obvious question, "How much should I spend on a paintball mask?", the real question is what do you want your new paintball mask to do for you? The rule of you get what you pay for couldn't apply more to when you are shopping for a new mask.
Most players that have rented a mask before have dealt with your mask fogging up on you while you're playing. This is due to a low end, scratched up non thermal paintball lens.


If there is any advice we here at Pro Edge Paintball can give you it would be to spend a little bit more on your paintball mask to buy a nice, comfortable mask with a thermal lens. The thermal lens in mask is a double pained lens meaning two lenses glued together. The space between the lenses helps prevent fogging from occurring even in the most humid and hot situations.
Most nice masks over forty dollars will include a thermal lens. The single pained lenses are what come in your rental masks or your masks that cost under thirty or forty dollars. The main way to tell which lens is inside of your mask is to see if there is a black line around the lens. The black line is the seal between the two lenses that helps prevent humidity from getting between the lenses.


If your lens does not have a black line around it then most likely it is similar to the rental masks and has a single pained lens. These single pained lenses may come with an anti fog coating that will get you through a few times of playing but over time through getting shot and cleaning your lens, the anti fog coating will slowly wear off and your paintball mask will begin fogging up. How to clean your paintball mask?
Answer: The best way to clean your paintball mask is to first remove the lens from the mask. This is to prevent any water getting between your thermal lenses which would cause it to fog up the next time you played. If you do not have a thermal lens then we still recommend to remove your lens so that you can get all of the paint from around the edges of your lens that might be hidden if it was still installed.
The next step is to take some soap and water and mix it together. We then recommend to take a nice cotton rag or old cotton t shirt and soak it in the soap and water. Wipe down your mask really well with this cloth getting into all of the cracks and between all of the parts and pieces. You can submerge your mask under water as long as you don't have the lens installed still.


We do not recommend to use any chemicals while cleaning your mask and DO NOT use Windex. Windex will scratch the plastic lens you are using and could cost you if you damage it beyond the ability to use it. Lay your mask out over night and let it dry before you put it back together to make sure no water is sitting on your mask when you go to reinstall the lens. Once you put the mask or paintball goggle back together be sure to check around the lens and make sure it is 100% put back together correctly. You do not want any gaps or spaces around the lens the next time you go out to play.

The mask includes an easy to change lens system, replacement goggle foam and easily removable strap.
