Learn about the Empire Axe 2.0

The Axe 2.0, just like a lot of other Empire paintball guns is a new and improved version of it's older self. The original Axe was a much different animal then what you see now with the new Axe 2.0. The obvious changes are extremely visible with the shape of the body being more stream lined and cleaner looking in our opinon to the two piece barrel that now comes standard in the Axe line up. In addition to the barrel and the body, here are the changes that were made from the original Axe to the Axe 2.0.
There are many upgrades available for the Axe 2.0. Be sure to check out the Empire Redline board and upgraded paintball barrels to really get the best performance of the the Empire Axe.

What does the Axe 2.0 feel like?

The new Axe offers rubber grips on the forgrip and better wrap around grips on the actual trigger frame of the gun. The older style Axe had a for grip that was held on to the grip frame with only two small set screws. This idea was great until a player was a little rough on their marker or took the front grip off of the gun and didn't tighten these screws down all of the way. The front grip would slide off exposing the electronic and if not carefully reinstalled, would damage the board costing the player thirty to forty dollars to have it replaced. The new grip from is a thousand times better designed with the front grip and the frame being all one piece of metal. This makes for a much stronger and less problematic system for the player to enjoy without issue.
One complain players had about the old front grip was if their hands got wet from paint, the front grip became very slippery. Thankfully Empire listened to this complaint and added rubber grips to the front grip to prevent any issue like this from ever happening again. With the changes of the grips comes a much more comfortable and better overall experience for all styles of players. For the players who aren't great at working on their gear, the technical errors aren't possible and for the players who are rough on their paintball gear, the front grip can't come off and cause any more problems.

How do you turn the air on and off on the new Axe 2.0?

The new Axe offers a much more sleek and well designed regulator that is bolted to the bottom of the gun. This new design makes the gun just look more like it fits in at the price level it is at. The older regulator was completely bulky and just didn't fit well with the rest of the Axe design. The new flip lever is more sleep and more hidden to prevent players from accidentally hitting the air on off lever during play and turning their air off. This may seem like a very particular issue to some paintball players, but for those who take their game extreme serious, this would cause a huge upset in an important moment of their game.

How do you turn on the Empire Axe 2.0?

Another small but important changes to the new Empire Axe 2.0 paintball gun is the new rubber pad to the turn the marker on and off. The old rubber button would wear out, exposing the electronics to the conditions at the paintball field. This would only cause failures in the board and a bad experience for the customer. The new Axe 2.0 offers a much more durable and better full rubber panel with the push button integrated into it. As we write this, the Axe has been out for at least a year and Pro Edge Paintball has not replaced a single button pad on the new Axe.

Does the Axe 2.0 have eyes?

The eye covers are now back on the newest model. The original Empire Axe did not allow for players to pull their electronic eyes out of the marker without pulling the entire paintball gun apart. The Axe 2.0 eye covers now allow you to remove the newly designed wired eyes to clean and maintenance them extremely easy! The ball detents are also accessible through the eye covers on each side of the marker. This new feature allows a much faster cleaning time and an incredibly easy way to replace the detents if they were ever to wear out. With the electronic eyes being much easier to clean, the player should have an overall better experience with the Empire Axe.

Is the Axe 2.0 Worth the price?

The Axe 2.0 overall is a great marker for the price. If you are currently an Empire paintball gun owner and are looking to upgrade, be sure to consider the Axe 2.0 as your next mid level paintball gun upgrade. With the latest changes that Empire made, pretty much any and all issues or complaints the players had on the original Axe have been solved or addressed in some way. The gun is extremely air efficient, light weight and incredibly reliable as well. These are features you can expect from the Empire Mini GS paintball gun and Axe line. With this line of markers being so popular the parts are very reasonably priced and easy to get your hands on in case of an issue after your factory warranty wears out.
As always, if you have any questions regarding your paintball shopping, even if it is not about the new Axe 2.0 please don't hesitate to give Pro Edge Paintball a call. Our staff is trained and extremely helpful when it comes to talking paintball and finding each player the gun that fits their needs and budget the best.
